Best Muffin in Queenstown

This is the tastiest, best value banana, blue berry muffin I have had in my entire life! This is just $3.80 from Rees St Deli cafe, 2nd floor.

I just have to recommend this cafe to everyone. It's very cosy. It has comfortable seats. The coffee was great but the muffin was unbeatable. I think it's because banana has been added to the regular blue berry muffin.

Nothing Beats a Hearty Healthy Soup

This is an original recipe. I loved it! This makes 3 servings.

It's a very healthy alternative!
My ingredients are:
1. Tofu
2. Shrimps
3. Pumpkin
4. Corn
5. Green peas
6. Peas
7. Red capsicum
8. Onion

Seasoning
1. bit of curry powder
2. 2 tbsp chili paste
3. 2 tbsp fish sauce

Add a bit of water of course though I mostly used the juice from the vegetables plus the water that came along with the corn kernels (I used canned corn).

Getting more authentic with Sushi

At $4.95 for a 750g sushi rice, this recipe isn't that cheap. The cooking sake I used is around $4 as well!

The entire recipe for the sushi:
1.  fresh New Zealand salmon, from $34/kg from Queenstown
2. Sushi rice
3. cooking sake (1 tbsp)
4. red ginger, pickled
5. thin carrots
6. roasted seaweed laver
7. mayonaisse
8. red capsicum

** add some wasabi and kikoman soy sauce

For the salad, I used a combination of vegetables:
1. Fresh cucumber
2. boiled carrots
3. boiled broccoli
4. some shallots (freshly cut into small pieces)
5. some sweet basil
6. mayonaisse
7. some small apple cubes (fresh) for a bit of sweetness

Some insights!
1. I definitely think sushi rice is much easier to work with than any other types of rice.
2. I added 1 tbsp of sake once the rice has been boiled and cooled a little bit
3. I could have added some more greens for my sushi to make it more colorful

Surreal Bar, Restaurant Queenstown, New Zealand

This fire was just lovely! It single-handedly convinced us to have a cosy lunch in a very wintry weather in Queenstown, New Zealand. This restaurant had a fantastic ambiance!

The pricing is not overly blown out! They do have specials like this chicken and potato meal for $15 and fish and chips meal for $10. The servings are not huge... in fact very modest. I think you can get a lot more for an $18 fish and chips somewhere else. However, of course, you pay for the ambiance.

Tourists might be delighted to know that they offer 30 minutes free wifi.

Would I come back to this place? I wouldn't mind.

Note that the lady who served us today March 3, (lunch time) had a really great personality which is not very common in Queenstown especially when they deal with guests from Asia. It's just my observation and many people might be defensive, others may agree with me and others will totally deny it.

Another Trip at Vudu, Queenstown Cafe

On a cold wintry weather, Vudu is such a cosy place to be in central Queenstown.
The only issue is that there's really a lot of people going here. Table turnover seems like every 30 to 40 minutes...

Coffee and rolls are reasonably priced. Cafe treat for 2 would be around $20.

For your information, I wanted to order a chicken burito, it would have been great but it would be around 600 calories at least. I also would have loved a muffin but that would have been at least 450 calories. So I settled with a sausage roll and what looks like 400 calories with chutney and tomato sauce.
